What is a Consul?

A consul is a person appointed by a foreign state and authorised by the Danish state to represent that state in a geographical area. The consul’s tasks may vary slightly depending on the wishes of the sending state, as the state is called.

The consul is usually either a Danish citizen or a foreign citizen permanently residing in Denmark and has special local knowledge of the area.

Typically, the consul’s main task is to assist citizens from the sending state and companies based in the sending state, promote trade and business as well as cultural and educational exchange.
